The aim of this study was to evaluate the connection between clinical characteristics and the recurrence and advancement of vulvar high-grade squamous intraepithelial lesions (vHSIL).
This retrospective cohort study, conducted at a single center, included all women with vHSIL followed from 2009 until 2021. In the study, women with a concurrent invasive vulvar cancer diagnosis were excluded. Demographic data, clinical information, treatment methods, histopathological analyses, and follow-up data were all extracted from the medical records for review.
The medical records indicated that 30 women met the criteria for vHSIL. The median follow-up duration was 4 years, with a range extending from a minimum of 1 year to a maximum of 12 years. A substantial portion, exceeding half, of the female participants (567% [17/30]) selected excisional treatment; conversely, a significant 267% (8/30) opted for a combined approach (excisional plus medical), while a smaller group of 167% (5/30) received sole medical treatment (imiquimod). Six of the thirty women (20%) demonstrated a recurrence of vHSIL, with a mean time until recurrence being 47.288 years. The development of invasive vulvar cancer demonstrated a progression rate of 133% (4 cases out of 30), taking on average 18,096 years to manifest. The link between identified proteins and the changes in the quality attributes of fish muscle during storage was visualized using pyramid diagrams. From the exudate of Japanese sea bass muscle, stored at 4 degrees Celsius for 12 days, nine proteins were isolated. Among these proteins, four stood out: glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate dehydrogenase (GAPDH), heat shock protein 90 (HSP90), peroxiredoxin 1 (PRX1), and beta-actin, which were observed to be instrumental in the changes of the muscle's quality traits.
